While some people have no trouble falling asleep, others go round and round in bed without falling asleep.

If you are one of those who remains awake unable to achieve the restful sleep of each night, you are in congratulations.

A secret military technique that is said to help anyone fall asleep in just two minutes has been recently revealed.

The trick is used by the US military to help them fall asleep when they are in less than peaceful situations, such as on the battlefields.

The secret is detailed in the book ‘Relax and Win: Championship Performance’, which although first published in 1981, has recently gained popularity on the Internet after Joe.co.uk revealed the trick to falling asleep.

Army commanders are believed to have developed the technique to ensure that soldiers did not make mistakes due to fatigue.

Here’s how it’s done:

  • relax the muscles of the face, including the tongue, jaw, and muscles around the eyes
  • Lower your shoulders as much as you can, followed by the upper and lower arm, from side to side.
  • Exhales, relaxing the chest followed by the legs, starting with the thighs and going down.
  • Then you should spend 10 seconds trying to clear your mind before thinking about one of the following three images:
  • You’re lying in a canoe on a quiet lake with nothing but a clear blue sky over you.
  • You’re lying in a black velvet hammock in a black room.
  • You say “don’t think, don’t think, don’t think” again and again for about 10 seconds.

The technique is said to work for 96 percent of people after six weeks of practice.

But it is not only in the army that lack of sleep can affect your performance, but we all have a higher risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease and inability to concentrate in general when we are deprived of sleep.
