We drink this every day without suspecting that it can cause breast cancer
Breast cancer is the most common female cancer, its causes are numerous and little known. However, some risk factors were identified, such as family history, sedentary lifestyles, and a diet high in saturated fat. Milk has also been singled out since scientists found a higher incidence of breast cancer in populations drinking a lot of milk. Is there any basis for this challenge?
The milk on the table!
Milk symbolizes growth and purity but today it is the object of suspicions. Doctors accuse him of being heavy and too fat for the digestive tract but also of being linked to several diseases, from the most benign to the most alarming: diabetes, rheumatism, otitis, multiple sclerosis, and cancer.
Milk is no longer popular with consumers, 16% of French people fear its effects on their health and 20% are wary of its quality. Controversy swells, anxiety recurs: drinking too much milk would cause cancer. Scientific studies abound in this direction. The latest one, led by Norwegian scientists, links high milk intake to breast cancer. Taking three cups of milk a day would increase the risk of developing a tumor, compared to a daily intake of half a cup or a whole cup.
What is the relationship between milk intake and breast cancer?
The same holds true for this American study published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, which surveyed 1,900 breast cancer survivors whose findings raise concerns: Consumption of whole milk products by women who survived breast cancer was suspected of increasing mortality.
372 women of the women monitored died and 189 died as a result of a recurrence of breast cancer. Women who have conquered breast cancer and consume whole milk daily, Cheese or other whole dairy products are 49% more likely to die from cancer than those consuming low-fat products.
Statistics reveal high rates of breast cancer among patients of Swedish, Finnish, British, Canadian and American descent. Countries where milk is strongly rooted in eating habits and whose consumption per capita exceeds 150 kg per year.
Conversely, scientists have found that breast cancer is virtually non-existent in the least consuming countries. According to these authors, hormones and certain components of milk have carcinogenic effects, the same is true of synthetic vitamin D, which is added to milk by manufacturers to improve its consistency. The link between milk intake and breast cancer may also be due to the fact that whole milk is richer in estrogen than light products. We know that these substances promote the development of certain cancers.
Other factors that contribute to the development of breast cancer
In addition to the highly controversial milk intake, there are proven but modifiable factors that contribute to the development of breast cancer, including low consumption of vegetables and fish, excessive ingestion of processed foods, alcohol, processed sugar, and pork meat, including sedentary and obesity.
We don’t really want to believe that our sexy push-up bras are not safe. More than a matter of coquetry, the ultra-jacked bras, therefore very tight could have harmful consequences on our melons. Wearing them too long limits the circulation of lymphatic fluids, thus removing toxins from this part of the body, increasing the risk of developing breast cancer.
A Harvard University study found that a woman who wears a bra more than 12 hours a day is at increased risk for breast cancer. Those who swear only by brassières are 125 times more likely than average to be subject to them, not to mention those who forget to remove them and sleep with them, who take 75 times more risk.
The main danger lies in our way of life and our way of feeding ourselves. A varied and balanced diet, the practice of a sports activity and the maintenance of a healthy weight are valuable assets to preserve its health.
